3 Must-Do's For Entrepreneurs
Sick of feeling like you're spinning your wheels in your business? Longing to actually reach the goals you set?
Spend your time moving closer towards your goals and doing something that will actually build your business instead of completing more busy work by completing these 3 steps!
Last week someone ASKED if they could watch my daughter so I could have some time to myself. It was an amazing blessing and gave me the opportunity to get out of the house, feel like a real person again, and pound out some serious content. As I sat in the sunny coffee shop with my hot gourmet coffee {kid free}, I thought back to when I first started my business. I remember feeling totally overwhelmed trying to complete every task I had on my freebie checklists from random entrepreneurs I snagged via Facebook ads {don't judge, the people looked totally legit in their ads}. I was also part of 1,768 free entrepreneur online groups that shared even more "tips" with me about making consistent sales, reaching goals, and being the best in the business. Needless to say, I was listening to one million different voices and paying a hard price for it.
That's why I am SO passionate about simplifying the codes, buzz words, and formulas we're told to follow as entrepreneurs. So here's the deal, if you're overwhelmed with your to-do list and feeling like you've been spinning your wheels, you're probably trying to do more than you should in too little time & attempting to complete tasks that you are not yet ready for. If I had a copy of my ridiculously long to-do list as a beginning entrepreneur to show you, I would {just for a good laugh}.
To help you begin to weed out the noise, simplify your business, and start truly gaining traction, here are three tips I complete regularly to move my business where I want it to be:
1. Listen to your clients
You are in your business to work with a certain person and help them with their unique problems, correct? Then you need to LISTEN and KNOW their struggles like the back of your hand. Even if you aren't an expert in your field yet, write down what you DO know about your client's pain points and then directly ask them what their biggest struggles in their business are via phone, messenger, emails, groups, etc.
2. Create content specifically for your ideal client
Do not waste your time creating beautifully designed e-books and email campaigns that YOU feel are really important. Create content laser-focused to cure your CLIENT'S pain points and provide them the answers to their questions! Show them your value by solving their problems and demonstrating that you are truly there for them.
3. Create a Content Calendar
I am a big fan of efficiency. Therefore I create all of my content for the month in bulk and then plan exactly when I'll send it out. This ensures all of my content is created with a very specific purpose: to solve my client's pain points. Creating and scheduling your content in an organized manner will give you a peace of mind that you are in fact working towards your goals and gaining traction in your business. As a bonus, your clients will notice consistency in you hence strengthening the necessary "know-like-trust" pattern.
{Inside tip}: I don't use any fancy system to create my content. I write everything out on Google Docs and then transfer it to an automated system that posts my content in the platform of my choice (fellow Buffer users unite!).
